We believe that a holistic approach to wellness is essential for keeping any dog healthy, happy, and out of trouble. Especially when it comes to big dogs care, as they tend to have more energy to burn and can require more attention to keep them mentally and physically stimulated.

Here are some of our favorite healthy ways to care for your extra-large pup, so they can be on their best behavior and live their best life.

Mindful Walks 🧘‍♀️

Going for a mindful walk with your dog is an excellent way to bond with them and promote mental well-being. Rather than just walking to burn off energy, take the time to be present in the moment and appreciate your surroundings. Encourage your dog to explore their surroundings and engage their senses. This type of activity promotes mental stimulation and can help to reduce stress and anxiety.

Puzzle Games 🧩

Puzzle games are an excellent way to challenge your dog's mind and improve their cognitive function. There are a variety of interactive puzzle toys available on the market, such as treat dispensers and maze games. These toys require your dog to problem-solve and use their critical thinking skills to retrieve their reward. Puzzle games are a great way to stimulate your dog mentally and keep them engaged. *For a more budget-friendly option, there are a handful of DIY puzzle games you can create with common household items. (If we dont have one already, I’d make a blog about this and link to it!)

Go for a Swim 🦦

If you live near a body of water, this activity is for you! Swimming is a low-impact exercise that is beneficial for big dogs with joint issues, mobility problems, or arthritis. The water helps to support and cushion the dog's joints while they move. This is a great way to improve muscle strength, range of motion, and circulation. Being in the water is also an amazingway to provide relief for dogs suffering from chronic pain.

Agility Training 🐕

This type of training is not only a fun way to exercise your big dog but can also improve their confidence and agility. Set up an agility course in your backyard or attend agility classes to learn new techniques and skills. Agility training provides mental and physical stimulation, promotes coordination, and helps to build a strong bond between you and your dog.

Healthy Diet 🥩

A healthy diet is just as important as exercise when it comes to your big dogs care in top shape. A well-balanced diet that includes high-quality ingredients and essential nutrients can help to promote overall health and well-being. At Healthybud, our balanced meals, treats, and toppers are packed with all the nutrients your big dog needs to stay healthy and active.

As always, make sure to consult with your veterinarian before starting any new exercise regimen, especially if your dog has pre-existing health conditions. With the right care and attention, your dog will be thriving and have a long and happy life!
